The LEGO Group YouTube series REBRICKULOUS, which was nominated for a Webby for “Best Entertainment Series” and is considered by Google to be the standard for branded content on YouTube (humble brag), is perhaps one of the most memorable experiences of the second decade of my career.
Because this project was so unique in its construction and production, it required every skill in my toolbox. My documentary and unscripted background helped create the production style we utilized both in and out of the studio. Each episode was based off outlines rather than scripts, and the hosts were really what propelled the show forward.
My film and television background laid the foundational structure that allowed us to film and release three full episodes each week. The production and editing teams were the real reason we were able to make these deadlines work, and if it weren’t for lead editor and friend, Jimmy Rudolph, we may have never pulled it off. But, we did, and everyone on the project was why.
